Second-year student Zora Williams is using her voice to bring more mental health and nutrition programming to San Diego Mesa College. Williams was elected president of the college’s Associated Students (AS) for the 2024-2025 academic year and serves as the college’s student representative on the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees.
Sometimes, you hear a story that makes you want to know more. Kevin Gonzalez has such a story. The last time this story was updated, San Diego Mesa College student Kevin Gonzalez was a 15 year-old heading off to Massachusetts to complete his high school education. In the ensuing years, he has travelled to the other side of the world, built houses, but remained in close contact with his Mesa College professors and connections he made while on campus.
The San Diego Community College District has appointed four new student trustees for the upcoming academic year. Dalia Ramirez (San Diego City College), Zora Williams (San Diego Mesa College), Hailey Hua (San Diego Miramar College), and Haydee Zuniga (San Diego College of Continuing Education), will be sworn in during the June 20 SDCCD Board of Trustees meeting.

The San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery opened its doors to host the first Summer Art Gallery exhibit, POSTMARK, SAN DIEGO. The art exhibit is free of admission and will be open from July 19th through August 3rd, 2018. On Thursday, July 19th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, the Gallery offered an opening reception that took place at the campus Art Gallery D101 and the Courtyard. POSTMARK, SAN DIEGO is a collection of 29 postcards representing the beautiful city of San Diego. Each artist created, mailed and recreated the postcards into Artist Books.The exhibit is open to all ages, with the purpose to create a conversation between the artist and the audience. The event is a collaboration between the San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery and the nonprofit organization, San Diego Book Arts. The summer exhibit is being tested out with special hours starting Tuesday and Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and on Thursday from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. San Diego, CA. - On Thursday, August 31, 2023, the San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery will host a reception for The Resistance of the Echo & La Eco-Resistencia: a multimedia installation by artist Francisco Eme. This multimedia installation is an urban ecology study focusing on the biological dynamics of a canyon situated in a suburb of San Diego. This work will be displayed through September 14th, in the San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery.
San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery is beginning the 2019 Spring semester with exciting news. Students, faculty, staff and the San Diego community are all invited to visit the brand new Mesa College Art Gallery located in the newly remodeled Fine Arts Building. The inaugural exhibition Looking Forward, Looking Back, will feature the work of 47 alumni that are presenting current projects. A reception will be held on Thursday, February 7 from 5:00-7:00pm, and the exhibition will run from January 28 – February 13.
This past week, San Diego Mesa Art Gallery invited author and arts critic Aruna D’Souza to discuss her book, Whitewalling: Art, Race & Protest in 3 Acts. As students filled the room, D’Souza was joined by UC San Diego Professor Nicole Miller to unpack some of the pertinent issues surrounding race and representation, and how they affect art culture.
