  • San Diego Mesa College's Third Annual Sustainability Summit

    On Friday, Oct. 13 San Diego Mesa College held its third annual Sustainability Summit event. Various organizations and speakers were present, including representatives from the Environmental Health Coalition, an environmental justice non-profit, and Closing the Loop SD, a recycling and composting company. Co-Coordinator of SEEDS Scholar Program and Assistant Professor of Geography, Waverly Ray, summarized the event, “The third annual Sustainability Summit exposed students to educational pathways and careers related to sustainability, hunger, and food security.”

  • Three San Diego Mesa College SEEDS Scholars Awarded Highly Competitive Summer Internships

    Today, San Diego Mesa College announced that three SEEDS Scholars have been awarded highly competitive summer internships with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and UCSD’s Summer Training Academy for Research Success (STARS).

  • Mesa SEEDS Scholars Travel to New Mexico to Present Research

    Four San Diego Mesa College SEEDS (STEM Engagement for the Enrichment of Diverse Students program) students presented their research projects at the 2017 Principal Investigator’s Meeting Feb. 16-18 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

  • Mesa College Hosts High School Students for Sustainability Summit

    Local high school students were welcomed to join students from San Diego Mesa College as part of the school’s SEEDS (STEM Engagement for Enrichment of Diverse Students) Scholars Program’s second annual Sustainability Summit on Sept. 30.

    A total of 94 students attended the event – a combination of 49 students from Kearny High School, Mission Bay Senior High School and James Madison High School, with 45 students from Mesa College. Some Mesa students participated in the Sustainability Summit by facilitating various sessions throughout the day, the Mesa College Ambassadors gave campus tours for the high school students throughout the day and other students were attendees learning about sustainability.

  • 154 scholarships awarded at Scholarship Banquet

    Over $180,000 in scholarships were awarded to San Diego Mesa College students on Friday, April 22, at the 23rd Annual Scholarship Banquet, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton San Diego - Mission Valley hotel. 154 Mesa College students received awards, with 42 receiving multiple awards. In total, there were 99 scholarship opportunities, making it one of the biggest scholarship awards ceremonies for Mesa.

  • Sustainability Week Entertains and Educates Mesa Students
