San Diego, C.A. – An interdisciplinary collaboration of scientific expertise and artistry has resulted in a visually stunning interpretive display in the hallway of the 3rd floor of the MS Building. Led by biology professor Paul Detwiler, the production team included Jenny Armer, Museum Studies ILT in the Department of Fine Art, and Museum Studies students Gaby Espina and Sara Shah. Together, they created realistic models of marine species while also including specimens from the biology department’s teaching collections to represent a microcosm of undersea life.

Registration Still Open for July and August Sessions
San Diego, CA. — For over ten years, San Diego Mesa College has been offering Summer CRUISE—Creating Rich Unique Intellectual Student Experiences – for incoming college students. This summer, Mesa is offering four CRUISE sessions in July – August.
Sessions are completely free and available to recent high school graduates and those who are first-time or returning college students. Registration is still available for incoming students for the weeks of July 18 and 25, as well as the week of August 1.
The CRUISE program introduces incoming students to the academic, professional, and personal campus resources available to them. The program also prepares them for math and English requirements and provides a chance to work alongside faculty and a team of over a dozen Peer Navigators, all while creating a unique support system among their peers. In the first week, CRUISE has served over 250 incoming students, and by the time all sessions are done, Mesa is projected to have assisted over 1,000 incoming students
During CRUISE, students can meet other students along with their personal Peer Navigator; work one-on-one with faculty who are committed to student success; get exposure to campus resources, student programming, and clubs; participate in academic and counseling workshops with faculty and staff; and receive support for their entire academic year at Mesa.
The program also offers special sessions for new students transitioning from Continuing Education, the Armed Forces, and Adult Learners who have not attended college. Additionally, Student Athletes and San Diego Promise scholarship recipients can get specific information and resources for their needs.
