Second-year student Zora Williams is using her voice to bring more mental health and nutrition programming to San Diego Mesa College. Williams was elected president of the college’s Associated Students (AS) for the 2024-2025 academic year and serves as the college’s student representative on the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees.
Sometimes, you hear a story that makes you want to know more. Kevin Gonzalez has such a story. The last time this story was updated, San Diego Mesa College student Kevin Gonzalez was a 15 year-old heading off to Massachusetts to complete his high school education. In the ensuing years, he has travelled to the other side of the world, built houses, but remained in close contact with his Mesa College professors and connections he made while on campus.
The San Diego Community College District has appointed four new student trustees for the upcoming academic year. Dalia Ramirez (San Diego City College), Zora Williams (San Diego Mesa College), Hailey Hua (San Diego Miramar College), and Haydee Zuniga (San Diego College of Continuing Education), will be sworn in during the June 20 SDCCD Board of Trustees meeting.

San Diego, CA. — San Diego Mesa College has posted a SNEEK PEEK of their Summer 2020 class schedule, at www.sdmesa.edu/summer. Students can view the schedule now, so that they can begin planning their classes for this summer. All classes are offered in the conveniently online format so that students can have maximum flexibility in getting courses they need. Priority registration begins in May.
Over 350 on-line courses are being offered at Mesa College this summer – so students can either get ahead or catch up on their academic requirements. Core summer classes available include English, Spanish and Mathematics. Summer courses are not restricted to Mesa College students – students from SDSU, UCSD, USD and other 4-year universities are encouraged to enroll in summer courses to gain their general education requirements, and save a significant amount of money by doing so.
“Summer classes at Mesa are only $46 per unit,” stated President Pamela Luster. “In addition, the majority of our courses are transferable to the CSU or UC system, and with all of them offered on-line – this summer is especially convenient for students no matter where they are. We are making it really easy for ANY student to get the credits that they need to complete their degrees.”
Mesa College is recognized for having the largest number of students who earned degrees designed to transfer to the California State University system in 2015. This is an important consideration for many students who want to go on to earn a higher degree once they leave Mesa College.
Classes aren’t only for students pursuing a four-year degree. Students interested in Career Education, and who want to gain in-demand job skills can take classes such as Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Health Information Technology, Multimedia, Real Estate, and Web Development – all of which can be applied towards an Associate’s Degree in their respective Departments.

San Diego, CA ---- San Diego Mesa College is discussed in an article published today by The Pew Charitable Trusts. The article, entitled, “More Community Colleges Are Offering Bachelor’s Degrees — And Four-Year Universities Aren’t Happy About It”, discusses the merits – and controversy – of community colleges offering four-year degrees. San Diego Mesa College will award the first baccalaureate degrees in the College’s history in May 2018.
