San Diego, CA ---- On Saturday, April 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Mesa College will host “Jumpstart Your Success”, a FREE community event for prospective students, their families and friends. Attendees are asked to RSVP, and will have an opportunity to learn more about Mesa College and the San Diego Promise FREE Tuition Program. Jumpstart will include campus tours, workshops, resource fair, demonstrations, and presentations to showcase the diversity and depth of the programs and services that Mesa College offers.

“This is a great event for potential incoming Mesa students because when they come to our campus, they get a feel of what our community has to offer through academic and student services support, such as access to free tuition,” said Victoria Miller, Dean of Student Affairs. “We have current students, staff and faculty on hand to provide encouragement that they will succeed in their journey here at Mesa.”

During the festivities, students will “get a feel for a day in the life of a Mesa student” through workshops that highlight the campus’ academic and student support resources, including financial aid and the Honors Program. Students will be able to interact with Peer Navigators, Student Ambassadors and the Associated Students.  Entertainment will be provided by Mesa College’s World Music, Dance and Jazz Quartet. FREE lunch will be provided (while supplies last).

Students attending  Jumpstart will have theirjumpstart names entered in the opportunity drawing to win a $250 scholarship to be applied toward enrollment fees during their first semester at Mesa College. Recipients have to be graduating high school seniors or transferring Continuing Education students to enter, and be present during the drawing of names to win.

In past years, more than 350 prospective students and their families attended Jumpstart. Those planning to attend this year’s event are encouraged to register for free online.  For more information about Jumpstart, please contact Zulma Heraldez at 619-388-2699 or at zduran@sdccd.edu.
