Second-year student Zora Williams is using her voice to bring more mental health and nutrition programming to San Diego Mesa College. Williams was elected president of the college’s Associated Students (AS) for the 2024-2025 academic year and serves as the college’s student representative on the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees.
Sometimes, you hear a story that makes you want to know more. Kevin Gonzalez has such a story. The last time this story was updated, San Diego Mesa College student Kevin Gonzalez was a 15 year-old heading off to Massachusetts to complete his high school education. In the ensuing years, he has travelled to the other side of the world, built houses, but remained in close contact with his Mesa College professors and connections he made while on campus.
The San Diego Community College District has appointed four new student trustees for the upcoming academic year. Dalia Ramirez (San Diego City College), Zora Williams (San Diego Mesa College), Hailey Hua (San Diego Miramar College), and Haydee Zuniga (San Diego College of Continuing Education), will be sworn in during the June 20 SDCCD Board of Trustees meeting.

San Diego Mesa College will host their 38th Annual Golden Scissors Awards and Fashion Show at the Sheraton Hotel and Marina on Friday, May 3rd 2019. This year’s theme is Forces of Fashion which features designs and clothing created by Mesa Fashion Design students. This event, produced by fashion promotion students, attracts crowds of approximately 700 fashion-minded community members each year.
The purpose of Golden Scissors is to showcase the work of the students in the Fashion program at Mesa. The show also helps students in the Fashion Department gain the experience needed for their own future careers in the Fashion Industry.
This year, Mesa is once again partnering with students from the cosmetology department at San Diego City College who lend their talents to complete the vision of these innovative and exciting student designs. Entertainment will be provided by Music/Dance students to create a show you do not want to miss.
Starting at 5:30pm, guests can check in and enjoy a silent auction where they can bid on items that were donated from local businesses. VIP guests will be part of a special reception and have preferred seating for the show. All proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction go towards scholarships for Fashion students.
Ticket prices are $60 for VIP, $25 for General Admission (in advance), $20 for Students (in advance), and $30 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at Mesa College in the Business Technology Building, Rooms 115 & 118 or online through San Diego Mesa Foundation. San Diego, CA -- FASHION REDUX 2024: Cross-Border Flows finale party and fashion show with this year’s designer challenge focuses on historic garments. Relive it – or experience it anew. Fashion Redux is an annual design competition for students in the Fashion Program at San Diego Mesa College. This year’s exhibit is based on the idea that San Diego’s geographical location has fostered a unique cultural exchange seen through a variety of examples from the History Center’s Historic Textile Collection.
San Diego, CA – On Friday, May 12, the San Diego Mesa College Fashion Program will host the 42nd Annual Golden Scissors Fashion Show from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the beautiful new on-campus Quad. The event will feature a live in-person runway show, a design showcase, awards and a VIP reception including music performed by students from the music department.
