Workers in the field of health information looking to get higher paying jobs just got more good news. Not only can they complete a four-year degree at San Diego Mesa College at a fraction of what it costs at private institutions, but they can begin college this fall as juniors, and they can also apply for financial aid. This thanks to the Department of Education, which approved the college’s application for eligibility and certification last week.

On May 12, Navy veteran and Mesa student Robert Palmese took to Mesa College’s pool, where he swam for 12 straight hours to raise money for his upcoming attempt at being the first person to cross the Catalina Channel three times on August 11, an incredible 60+ mile swim that will take roughly 36 hours.

The 2nd annual Mesa College Research Conference took place on May 6, showcasing Mesa’s top student researchers. Like last year’s conference, this year’s event was divided into Analytical, Descriptive, and Experimental research categories. 25 students presented their original research on psychology, biology, chemistry, language, history, and more.

Nationally recognized arts educator Rory Pullens is San Diego Mesa College’s 2016 Distinguished Alumnus. Pullens will address the college’s Class of 2016 at its 52st commencement exercises, which takes place at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Jenny Craig Pavilion at the University of San Diego.
