Mesa College to Confer over 2,200 Students for Graduation via Virtual Commencement

2021 Graduating Class Features 75 Valedictorians

On Friday, May 28, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., San Diego Mesa College host their Virtual Commencement Ceremony for the 2021 graduating class, with over 600 students participating in the Ceremony. Mesa will be conferring over 2,200 academic degrees and 411 certificates, a 3% percent increase over 2020. The class of 2021 is boasting 75 valedictorians, 560 students graduating with honors and over 400 students who are receiving more than one degree or certificate. The Ceremony will go live on Friday at www.sdmesa.edu/Commencement, and will feature of series of videos to include the Commencement Ceremony and the Presentation of the Graduates, along with program and alumni highlights.

 

Among the graduates are the third class set of 28 students receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management (HIM), as well as the third set of San Diego Promise students, who participated in the San Diego Community College District’s free-tuition program.

 

“Our students have persevered through this pandemic to become Mesa College graduates,” stated San Diego Mesa College President Dr. Pamela T. Luster. “We will award Bachelor’s degrees, our associate degree students are transferring to excellent colleges and universities, and with the economy starting to recover, our Career Education students are getting job offers before they have even finished the semester.”

 

Mesa College will once again be holding their annual Giving Day, honoring Mesa graduates. Via the Mesa College Foundation, Mesa have already raised over $10,000, with an additional $2,000 match just added so that any donations made between now and Saturday, May 29th, will be doubled until $12,000 is raised.

 

On Friday June 4, 29021, graduates will be furthered honored in a Drive-Thru Grad Parade “Carmencement”, where graduates will be able to follow a parade route through campus in their vehicles and receive their diploma covers while being cheered on by faculty, staff and administrators.
