Track and Field Athletes Take Top Honors

San Diego, CA. — In March, Mesa track and Field athletes took top honors in the respective
events in multiple competitions across the state. Mesa athletes competed against rigorous
competition at four-year colleges such as Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Fullerton,
Cal State San Marcos and Soka University. They competed against athletes from some
of the biggest schools, including USC, UC Irvine, Cal Poly, Pepperdine, Cal State
Northridge, Long Beach State, and UC Santa Barbara.
“We are excited to announce the following student-athletes who are competing at a
high level and are representing Mesa College in style,” stated Renee Ross, Head Men's/Women's
Track & Field Coach at San Diego Mesa College.
Top finishers include:
- Tyler Arroyo (High Jumper): #1 in PCAC. SO CAL, and is currently 3rd in the STATE and has hit the automatic qualifying mark already for the CCCAA State
Meet along with teammate Kenney.
- Will Kenney (High Jumper): #2 in PCAC, #4 in So Cal and hit the CCCAA State Meet automatic qualifying
mark.
- Madison Goss (Javelin Thrower): #1 in PCAC; 5TH SO CAL; 5th in STATE and is an automatic CCCAA State Meet Qualifier along with her teammate Micaela
Ecija.
- Micaela Ecija (Javelin Thrower): 2nd in PCAC; 7TH in So Cal; 9th in State and has is an automatic CCCAA State Meet Qualifier.
- Andre ( Cooper) Bibbs (Sprinter - 100/200): #1 in PCAC , 2nd in So Cal, 5th in State.
- 4 x 100 Relay Team (Bibbs, C. Robinson, Q. Walker, G. Brooks): 42.63 #1 in PCAC, 6th in So Cal.
- 4 x 400 Relay Team (D. Strange, G. Romero, N. Cantrell, Bibbs): #1 In PCAC.
- Doug Strange (400 meters): #1 in PCAC.
- Qwayjon Walker (Jumper/Sprinter): #1 in Long Jump PCAC.
- Francesca(Frankie) Boger (Hurdler/Sprinter): #1 in 100H PCAC; #1 in 200m PCAC.
- Jordyn Fox (Female - Pole Vault): #1 in PCAC; 10TH in So Cal.
- Valentina Cvrk (Distance): #1 in 800 and 1500 in PCAC.
- Sarah Montion (Thrower- Discus): #1 in PCAC.
Mesa College will host the highly regarded Arnie Robinson Invitational on April 1st, 2107. The Meet is open to high school and college students. The event is named in honor
of Olympic Gold Medalist Arnie Robinson who both taught and coached at Mesa College.
