Something is Brewing at Mesa College
Mesa College Announces New Fermentation Management Program
By Office of Communications
San Diego, CA. — San Diego Mesa College will be offering a new Certificate program
this Fall in Fermentation Management. The Certificate of Achievement in Fermentation
Management focuses on retail sales and service industries. Classes prepare students
for multiple careers and/or to transfer to a four-year program in viticulture, enology,
distilling, engineering or hospitality.
“We’re hoping to attract the new generation of fermentation professionals to Mesa
College,” stated Mesa College President Pamela Luster. “This exciting new program
allows current and new culinary and hospitality students to expand their opportunities
in this exciting and emerging industry.”
San Diego is one of the leading cities in craft breweries, and has seen significant
growth in craft distilleries, including wine, beer, kombucha and coffee. The Mesa
College Fermentation Management Certification Program will prepare students to enter this market with the relevant education to help sustain
and grow this industry. Students in the Program will study the production of fermented
beverages, and learn about brewing, distilling and wine making, focusing on hospitality.
Courses offered through the Program include sales and marketing, law, accounting,
importing, distribution and operations. Student receiving the Certificate will become
more desirable and marketable employees, prepared for advancement in the industry.
