San Diego Mesa College 60th Anniversary Celebration Wednesday, Jan 31, 2024 at 10:00am

San Diego –On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, San Diego Mesa College will be hosting the kick-off to their 60th Anniversary Celebration. Students, faculty, staff, administrators, elected officials, alumni, partners, the Mesa College Foundation, and members of the community will come together to celebrate six decades of equity and excellence.

 

Guest speakers include San Diego Community College District Chancellor Gregory Smith and Board of Trustees President Bernie Rhinerson, along with Chancellor Emeriti Dr. Constance Carroll, and Mesa College Alumnae Dr. Hellen Griffith of The Preuss School at UC San Diego. The Mayor’s office and City Councilmember Jennifer Campbell will present proclamations, and Mesa will debut their commemorative 60-th Anniversary video and the schedule of upcoming signature events. The Program will then transition into a Campus Celebration and Resource Fair, featuring music and dancing presented by Mesa College students, along with food and other festivities.

 

Throughout 2024, Mesa College will be celebrating 60 years of equity and excellence. The community is invited to join in the year-long festivities as Mesa’s celebrates with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, partners, the Mesa College Foundation, and the community. Mesa will host speakers’ panels, celebrate Homecoming, alumni and Spirit Week, honor the founders of the World Arts Collection, and culminate with the Spirit of Mesa Gala in October.

San Diego Mesa College Awarded $1.76M to Support First-Generation, Low-Income, and Disabled Students Through TRIO Student Support Services

SAN DIEGO, CA — The U.S. Department of Education has awarded San Diego Mesa College a TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant totaling $1,762,655 ($352,531 annually over five years) to increase retention and graduation rates among low-income, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities.
