On Tuesday, August 22, 2023, after a one day rain delay, Mesa College welcomed thousands of students to campus for the first day of the Fall 2023 semester. See the Mesa College Fall 2023 Welcome Week Photo album for more photos.
Second-year student Zora Williams is using her voice to bring more mental health and nutrition programming to San Diego Mesa College. Williams was elected president of the college’s Associated Students (AS) for the 2024-2025 academic year and serves as the college’s student representative on the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees.
Sometimes, you hear a story that makes you want to know more. Kevin Gonzalez has such a story. The last time this story was updated, San Diego Mesa College student Kevin Gonzalez was a 15 year-old heading off to Massachusetts to complete his high school education. In the ensuing years, he has travelled to the other side of the world, built houses, but remained in close contact with his Mesa College professors and connections he made while on campus.
The San Diego Community College District has appointed four new student trustees for the upcoming academic year. Dalia Ramirez (San Diego City College), Zora Williams (San Diego Mesa College), Hailey Hua (San Diego Miramar College), and Haydee Zuniga (San Diego College of Continuing Education), will be sworn in during the June 20 SDCCD Board of Trustees meeting.

Fall 2023 classes are still available
San Diego, CA – With only four weeks left until the start of the Fall 2023 semester, prospective students can still enroll for open Fall 2023 courses at San Diego Mesa College. Mesa has both full semester 16 week classes as well as flexible “short-term” 8-week courses. Seats are still available in over 400 classes; offered in both on-campus and on-line formats. Short-term (8-weeks) and evening classes are designed to accommodate those with busy schedules as well as allow students to earn units more quickly.
Students are encouraged to enroll and register as soon as possible. Courses are still
available in both general education and specific degree programs, including Art, Anthropology,
Computer Science, Culinary, English, Ethnic Studies, Exercise Science, Fashion, Mathematics,
Multimedia, and Psychology as well as in the Sciences and in multiple languages. Nearly
all of these course can fulfill either general or specific education requirements
for students looking to earn a degree or transfer.
“Having access to classes is really valuable for students right now,” stated Dr. Isabel
O’Connor, Vice President of Instruction. “With the option to take classes on-campus
or on-line, in the evening, and that are transferable to the CSU or UC system, we
are making it really easy for any student to get the credits that they need to complete
their degrees for transfer or employment.”
Mesa College is recognized for having the largest number of students who earned degrees
designed to transfer to the California State University system – and has transfer
options to SDSU. This is an important consideration for many students who want to
go on to earn a higher degree once they leave Mesa College.
However, classes aren’t only for students pursuing a four-year degree. Students interested
in Career Education, or who want to gain immediate in-demand job skills can take classes
such as Accounting, Business, Child Development, Computer Science, Culinary Arts,
Fashion, Fitness, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Health Information Technology,
Hospitality, Medical Assisting, Multimedia, Phlebotomy, Real Estate, Teacher Education
and Web Development – all of which can be applied towards an Associate’s Degree in
their respective Departments.
Registration is open now for all students. Classes are $46 a unit for California residents.
