San Diego Mesa College is Supporting The Stand for #GivingTuesday
By Office of Communications
San Diego, CA. — San Diego Mesa College will be participating in #GivingTuesday this year by accepting donations to The Stand. The Stand is the on campus food and
clothing pantry that provides food, toiletries, and professional clothing to students
at no charge.
Since opening in February of 2017, The Stand opened has assisted nearly 1,000 students,
and has received nearly $8,000 in monetary donations along with hundreds of dollars’
worth of donations of food and clothing. The Stand is supported by faculty, staff
and the community, as well as multiple student groups including the Associated Students,
student-athletes and multiple campus clubs.
“This season, we are hoping that donors will consider helping our students meet basic
needs so that they can focus on homework instead of hunger,” stated Mesa College President
Pamela Luster. “This really is an initiative created by students for students, and
we are invested in its continued success.”
Donations to The Stand can be made through the Mesa Foundation at www.sdmesa.edu/foundation.
In addition to The Stand, Mesa College proudly supports the San Diego Community College
District-wide #GivingTuesday effort to garner 100 new donors for the San Diego Promise.
