Second-year student Zora Williams is using her voice to bring more mental health and nutrition programming to San Diego Mesa College. Williams was elected president of the college’s Associated Students (AS) for the 2024-2025 academic year and serves as the college’s student representative on the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees.
Sometimes, you hear a story that makes you want to know more. Kevin Gonzalez has such a story. The last time this story was updated, San Diego Mesa College student Kevin Gonzalez was a 15 year-old heading off to Massachusetts to complete his high school education. In the ensuing years, he has travelled to the other side of the world, built houses, but remained in close contact with his Mesa College professors and connections he made while on campus.
The San Diego Community College District has appointed four new student trustees for the upcoming academic year. Dalia Ramirez (San Diego City College), Zora Williams (San Diego Mesa College), Hailey Hua (San Diego Miramar College), and Haydee Zuniga (San Diego College of Continuing Education), will be sworn in during the June 20 SDCCD Board of Trustees meeting.

San Diego Mesa’s College Fashion Program will be hosting the 37th Annual Golden Scissors Fashion Show at The Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina on May 11, 2018. The students who are enrolled in the Fashion Promotion course are organizing and producing the entire show, which will help them gain the experience needed for their industry. Various apparel to be highlighted in the event includes children’s wear, evening gowns and special occasion, daywear, club-wear and more.
Once again, Mesa College will collaborate with San Diego City College Cosmetology department, who will be providing hair and makeup services for the models. The annual show is to support the Fashion Program at Mesa College and promote the Fashion Design and Merchandising students as their work is showcased to the community.
At 5:30 pm, VIP guests can enjoy a silent auction and bid on items, which are all donated by local businesses. Additionally, VIP guests will be part of a special reception and have preferred seating prior to the show.
Ticket prices are $60 VIP, $25 General, $20 Student and tickets at the door and day of the show will be $30 for General Admission. Advanced Tickets are available at San Diego Mesa College in rooms B104, B105, and online at https://sdmesafoundation.yapsody.com Check-in begins at 5:30 pm, and show time begins at 7:30 pm; which will be followed promptly by awards.

San Diego, CA – On Friday, May 12, the San Diego Mesa College Fashion Program will host the 42nd Annual Golden Scissors Fashion Show from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the beautiful new on-campus Quad. The event will feature a live in-person runway show, a design showcase, awards and a VIP reception including music performed by students from the music department.
Best Universities’ latest publication includes new rankings of the top fashion design schools in California, which includes San Diego Mesa College in the top five. Designed for students looking to complete or further their education, the rankings evaluate fashion design programs in California. In order to create the list of the best fashion design schools in California, Best Universities has collected college data sourced from the U.S. Department of Education National Center for Education Statistics survey.
Spring 2022 has been a busy season for students and alumni of the San Diego Mesa Fashion Program. From being named as finalists in the Aquarium of the Pacific’s annual Trashin’ Fashion Contest, to being selected to present a garment at the Costume Society of America’s Design Symposium, and landing a job with an international premium fashion company, Mesa Fashion students are making their mark.
