Experience the ‘Death Experience’ at San Diego Mesa College

Event seeks to prevent distracted, drugged and drunk driving among students

San Diego, CA. — On Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 10:00am to 2:00pm, Student Health Services at San Diego Mesa College’s  will host “The Death Experience”, an event designed to educate students on the perils of driving while drunk, drugged or distracted.

 

“While some may consider it gruesome, it’s incredibly important for our students to witness first-hand the consequences of driving under the influence or while distracted” said Dr. Pamela T. Luster, President of Mesa College. “If any student – even one – adopts safer behaviors as a result of this event, it will be a success.”

Program: Asst District Attorney Callie Bright will simulate prosecution of drunk/drugged drivers
1:1 recover education and support
SDCCD Police will have drunk goggles and a driving course
AT&T will provide "Distracted Driving" education
Restaurants Against Drunk Driving (RADD) will offer education and giveaways
Visuals: San Diego Fire Department "Jaws of Life Victim Extraction" Demonstration
Students signing "No Texting and Driving Pledge"

Members of the media:  Please park in designated parking spaces, and be sure not to block fire lanes, handicap access, drop off zones, delivery areas, etc.
