Mesa College Canyon Day Encourages Participants to Stay Close to Home
Focus in 2021 is on cleaning local neighborhood and canyons

On Saturday, April 10, 2021, Mesa College will be encouraging students and the local
community to participate in Canyon Day, by cleaning their own local neighborhood or canyon. As with many events this past year, due to COVID-19 health and safety concerns, Canyon
Day and Canyon Classroom cannot be held in person, and instead will be provided as
self-guided activities.
“Canyon Day really is – and always has been - about our connection with the greater
community who all work together to preserve and protect our natural resources,” stated Dr. Pamela Luster,
President of Mesa College. “So, even though we can’t be together, by encouraging participants
to engage in activities such as cleaning their own neighborhoods and local canyons, we are still protecting the environment.”
Canyon Day
Date: Sat, April 10, 2021
Time: 9:00am-12:00pm
Location: Your neighborhood or local canyon (pending allowed guidelines - do not enter closed
areas)
Participants should complete this Canyon Day 2021 Registration/Sign-Up Form PRIOR to participating in the Clean-up, and follow all recommended guidelines. After
participants are done, they can enter their information into the Canyon Day 2021 Completion Form to be eligible to earn community service credit and be entered into an opportunity
drawing to win one of 20 prize packs.
The Canyon Classroom event will be offered in a virtual format this year. School aged children and their
families are encouraged to participate in multiple fun and educational virtual activities
at their own pace. To register, visit www.sdmesa.edu/Canyon-day, and send your name and email address to Mesa’s Canyon Classroom contest coordinators.
Registrants and their families will receive information for various virtual activities
to learn more about your neighborhood Tecolote Canyon. Participants will be eligible
to win prizes, such as a backpack and coloring set.
