San Diego, CA. - On Thursday, August 31, 2023, the San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery will host a reception for The Resistance of the Echo & La Eco-Resistencia: a multimedia installation by artist Francisco Eme. This multimedia installation is an urban ecology study focusing on the biological dynamics of a canyon situated in a suburb of San Diego. This work will be displayed through September 14th, in the San Diego Mesa College Art Gallery.

On Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., the San Diego Mesa College Softball team will host a Softball Clinic for local girls, ages 6-16, at all levels of experience. The Clinic will be run by coaches and players and will focus on both defensive and offensive skills. Additionally, the team will host and question and answer session, and focus on the importance of team building and comradery.

San Diego, CA. — Today, San Diego Mesa College announced that alumnus Antonio Martinez has been unanimously chosen to be their 2018 Distinguished Alumni, and will speak at the 2018 San Diego Mesa College Commencement Ceremony to be held at the USD Jenny Craig Pavilion on May 19th at 3:00pm.
“We are proud to have an alumnus like Mr. Antonio Martinez,” stated Mesa College President Dr. Pamela T. Luster. “He embodies the Mesa College Olympian spirit, and as a successful Mesa graduate has returned to his community to give back.”
While a student at Mesa College, Mr. Martinez studied philosophy, politics and economics. He graduated from Mesa College in 2005, and transferred to the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with honors with a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.
"I am honored and humbled to be San Diego Mesa College's 2018 Distinguished Alumnus”, stated Mr. Martinez. “My professors at Mesa College were the best I have ever had, and the education I received gave me the foundation I needed to be successful in an Ivy League school and in life. I hope that all students have the opportunity to have access to affordable community colleges, like San Diego Mesa College."
Martinez grew up in the San Ysidro and was the first in his family to go to college. Since 2012 he has been a member of the San Ysidro School Board, and he also serves on the board of the San Ysidro Community Planning Group and the San Ysidro Recreation Council. Currently, Mr. Martinez serves as the Director of Public Relations at Imperial Beach Community Clinic.
