San Diego, CA. — Today, San Diego Mesa College announced that alumnus Antonio Martinez

at the 2018 San Diego Mesa College Commencement Ceremony to be held at the USD Jenny
Craig Pavilion on May 19th at 3:00pm.
“We are proud to have an alumnus like Mr. Antonio Martinez,” stated Mesa College President
Dr. Pamela T. Luster. “He embodies the Mesa College Olympian spirit, and as a successful
Mesa graduate has returned to his community to give back.”
While a student at Mesa College, Mr. Martinez studied philosophy, politics and economics.
He graduated from Mesa College in 2005, and transferred to the University of Pennsylvania,
where he graduated with honors with a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.
"I am honored and humbled to be San Diego Mesa College's 2018 Distinguished Alumnus”,
stated Mr. Martinez. “My professors at Mesa College were the best I have ever had,
and the education I received gave me the foundation I needed to be successful in an

access to affordable community colleges, like San Diego Mesa College."
Martinez grew up in the San Ysidro and was the first in his family to go to college.
