San Diego Mesa College Listed by Best Universities as one of the Top Five "Best Fashion Design Schools in California"

Best Universities’ latest publication includes new rankings of the top fashion design schools in California, which includes San Diego Mesa College in the top five. Designed for students looking to complete or further their education, the rankings evaluate fashion design programs in California. In order to create the list of the best fashion design schools in California, Best Universities has collected college data sourced from the U.S. Department of Education National Center for Education Statistics survey.


Best Universities has ranked the best fashion design schools in California based on:

  • An average annual cost of no more than $13,000
  • A median starting salary no lower than $34,000
  • Accredited programs by recognized bodies

The Mesa College Fashion Program offers four Associate Degrees and four Certificates of Achievement. Students enrolled in the College's Fashion program have the opportunity to create inventive designs and projects while informing our culture with their unique contributions. They learn how to capture their artistic vision efficiently by using Photoshop, Illustrator, and other digital technology, and apply knowledge from their courses in sketching, sewing, pattern making, and draping to physically bring their designs to life. Students learn styling, how to interpret trends, and execute stunning visual displays. In addition, they use the latest technologies to track sales, interpret analytics, and create tech-packs and marketing materials.  Fashion students participate in field excursions and study abroad, hold internship positions, and learn from our expert faculty and knowledgeable guest speakers.

Mesa’s curriculum is curated by faculty who possess extensive industry experiences with insights from an advisory committee of fashion professionals. Student receive support on and off campus to achieve your goals as they enter a fashion profession or pursue further education at another institution. Mesa College alumni have competed on Project Runway and found employment with Dior, Steve Madden, Volcom, and many more.
