Confidential Point of Contact
Looking for Support or Information?
If you have experienced harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or other concerns related to your identity or campus experience, you may have questions about what to do next. The Confidential Point of Contact (CPC) is available to help you explore your options in a supportive and confidential setting.
As required by California Senate Bill 1491 (SB 1491), every California Community College and California State University designates a Confidential Point of Contact to support LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, and staff.
The CPC serves as a trusted resource where you can:
- Discuss concerns privately and confidentially
- Learn about your rights, protections, and available support services
- Receive information about reporting pathways and campus resources
- Explore your options before deciding whether to pursue a formal complaint or other action

What can the CPC Help With?
The Confidential Point of Contact can:
- Provide a welcoming space to talk through concerns and questions
- Share information about campus policies, procedures, and Title IX protections
- Help you understand available resources and support services
- Connect you with the appropriate offices if you choose to seek additional assistance
- Support you in making informed decisions about next steps without pressure or obligation
What is Outside the CPC's Role?
The Confidential Point of Contact:
- Does not investigate complaints or determine responsibility for policy violations
- Does not initiate a formal complaint process unless you request assistance in doing so
- Does not automatically share information with Title IX or other campus offices without your written consent
- Must still comply with state and federal laws regarding mandated reporting responsibilities when applicable
Why is the CPC Important?
The Confidential Point of Contact was established to ensure LGBTQIA+ community members have access to information, support, and guidance before deciding whether to engage in a formal process.
This role helps to:
- Provide a safe and affirming first point of contact
- Empower individuals to make informed choices about reporting and support options
- Increase access to campus and community resources
- Strengthen institutional support for LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, and staff by identifying needs and opportunities for improvement
