Eligibility Requirements

  • Attend Mesa during the 2024-2025 Academic Year
  • Full time Mesa College Student
  • Enroll and complete 12 units each semester
  • Completed 24 units by June 2024
  • Have or be working towards a 2.75 GPA (cumulative)
  • Must be available during the summer: June 3rd to August 16th
  • Be able to work on campus and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Culturally sensitive and able to promote diversity, equity, and student support
  • Provide name/e-mail address of current SDMC Faculty/Staff for reference check. (Please note: Peer Navigators are not eligible to serve as a reference)

Duties

  • Mentor 50-75 first-year students throughout the 2024-2025 Academic Year
  • Attend mandatory training (June 3rd to July 3rd, 8am - 1pm)
  • Work the 2024 Summer CRUISE, 2025 Winter CRUISE and Saturday CRUISE  
    (dates and times are subject to change)
  • Be a mentor by setting a positive, successful example
  • Actively mentor your students on a monthly basis for the academic year
  • Design workshops, events, and hold office hours
  • Motivate your students to achieve their goal
  • Participate in Professional Learning
  • Attend weekly team meetings during the semester
