Graduation & Commencement

Graduation

At Mesa, "graduation" is the process to obtain your degree and/or certificate of achievement. To graduate, you must have create your education plan, apply for graduation, and complete course requirements. The graduation process is not automatic. 

Submit your application at the beginning of your final semester, or by the appropriate deadlineOnce all final semester grades are posted, each application for graduation will be evaluated for completion. If approved for graduation, your diploma will be mailed to the address listed in your MySDCCD portal.

Note: To obtain a degree through SDCCD all regionally accredited transcripts from outside insitutions must be received and evaluated.

Commencement Ceremony

The annual Commencement Ceremony is the celebration held in May for students who have graduated or will graduate, within the academic year. The academic year includes prior Summer and Fall graduates, and current Spring and Summer anticipated graduates. The RSVP will be sent in March and is required to participate.

Note: Participation in the commencement ceremony and applying for graduation are separate processes.

If you are a 2024-2025 graduate and would like to remove your name from commencement related materials please complete the opt-out form by April 1, 2025.

  • December 17-19 closing early at 4:30 pm
  • December 23 through 31 - Winter Break

Spring Evaluations Office Closures:

  • January 1 - New Year's Day
  • January 17 - Closing early at 12:00 pm
  • January 20 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • February 14 -Lincoln Day
  • February 17 - Washington Day
  • April 4 - Cesar Chavez Day
  • May 26 - Memorial Day
