Faculty Professional Learning Committee (FPL)

Purpose

The purpose of the Faculty Professional Learning Committee is to establish a culture that promotes shared ideas and to develop learning activities based on student success and faculty needs, explore relevant methodologies for teaching and learning, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and use research to inform professional learning programming.

Type: Subcommittee

Reports to: Campus Employee Development (CEL)

Meets: The FPLC meets on the second Thursday of each month from 2:30 – 3:30 in the LOFT.

Goals

  1. Pedagogy: Develop, use, and assess effective teaching methodologies within their classes.
  2. Learning: Promote professional learning communities of practice (PLCoPs), interdisciplinary, collaboration through outreach and department/school engagement.
  3. Inclusion: Contribute to and broaden cultural proficiency.
  4. Technology: Develop technological competence.
  5. Organizational: Provide professional learning opportunities to ensure and promote organizational competence. (i.e. management).
  6. Community: Support equity and inclusion between the college and greater community.
