Sociology Program

If you have ever wanted to learn more about the social forces that shape your life and the world around you, Mesa College sociology courses will provide you with the tools you need to hone your critical consciousness and prepare for careers in our global workforce. Introducing you to developing theory around group formation and socialization, a sociologist education will provide you with insight into the various roles we all play as family members, students, and citizens within our communities. You will learn about the personal, social, cultural, and economic factors that determine these roles, as well as our changing attitudes, values, and beliefs. With a better understanding of your unique social positioning and how it relates to power structures and hierarchies of privilege, you will discover your own power to influence social change and uplift others. Get ready to earn your Associate Degree in Sociology, prepare to transfer, and/or enter the workforce and develop the tools to assume an active role in your community.
