At its core, anthropology asks the question, “What does it mean to be human?” Anthropology
courses at Mesa College will help you on your search for answers, as you dig deeply
into our history to explore the origins, patterns, and changes of human culture and
biology across time. Whether you choose to study humans and our ancestors from an
evolutionary perspective, learn to examine and interpret material cultural remains,
or study the habits of living people, you will gain a deep understanding of the ways
knowledge, myths, beliefs, behaviors, and communities are constructed and change.
As a burgeoning anthropologist, you will have the skills to apply your knowledge of
diverse communities and behaviors within a variety of career settings - from those
in education, to nonprofit organizations, business, government, and health fields
- and better promote an understanding of human diversity and cooperation in our increasingly-connected
world. As you earn your Anthropology Associate Degree or Associate Degree for Transfer,
you will benefit from the care and support of the program's expert faculty, who are
dedicated to deepening your learning and success as you prepare for transfer to a four-year
university or entry into the workforce.
