Photography and New Genres

A picture is worth a thousand words, and in Mesa College’s Photography & New Genres program, you will learn how to utilize modern artistic techniques, digital software, and photographic technology to communicate your ideas and share your worldview with others. In addition to photography classes, this program offers courses in art history, photographic art practice, and theory to expand your knowledge of the art world. The photography courses will also allow you to hone your own technical skills and experience hands-on learning with the tools of the trade, operating cameras, and learning techniques for positioning and lighting in 2-D and 3-D projects. You will be prepared to transfer and/or earn your associate degree with an awareness of the many contributions that have been made within the art world and determine the ways your photography could contribute to cultural development and change.
