Mesa College’s philosophy courses are designed to help you develop the critical thinking
skills you need to approach our most thought-provoking questions on the nature of
reality, knowledge, and ethics. Our philosophy classes explore topics from religion
to history, science, gender, the environment, and more so you can better consider the
concepts of truth, good and evil, and human nature that will inform your understanding
of yourself and the world we live in. Through readings, lectures, online sources,
and class discussions you will learn to evaluate the ways our lives are shaped by
the way we think and begin to explore the major theories questioning the human experience.
Whether you prepare to transfer and/or earn your associate degree, or simply enroll
out of curiosity about philosophy, you will be equipped with the skills and faculty
support to think critically, write persuasively, and apply your understanding of claims
and arguments to assumptions and accepted notions which you may encounter throughout
your studies and beyond.
