Take your first step toward a Geography Degree and a career applying a spatial lens
to the world around you with geography classes at San Diego Mesa College. Combining
natural and social sciences, your geography studies will provide you with the tools
you need to seek solutions to many of our local, regional, and global problems. Guided
by expert faculty, you will engage in discussions around contemporary issues from
climate change to socio-spatial inequality and use your understanding of human behaviors
and dynamic environmental features to champion equity and sustainability within your
career and community. Geography classes will also include opportunities for field
trips to places like Mission Trails Regional Park, the La Jolla Map Museum, and Pure
Water San Diego, along with service learning opportunities with local organizations
such as San Diego Audubon, Kitchens for Good, Feeding San Diego, Tecolote Nature Center,
and Surfrider’s Blue Water Task Force. The understanding you will gain of your own
role within the community will prove beneficial throughout your studies, as you earn
your associate degree or associate degree for transfer, gain cultural competence,
