GIVE TO MESA

Engineering Workshops

Spring 2020 Engineering Workshop attendee testimonial:
"I really enjoyed the workshops! I feel like I learned a lot and have a new appreciation for Engineering that I did not have before. :) I am very appreciative that it could continue after the semester went online. It was always a nice escape for a little while!" - M.Y.

Mechatronics Engineering Workshops, directed by Prof. Hamidreza G. Bahraseman (aka "Professor Hamid"), help students navigate and understand the academic and technological aspects of engineering applications such as MATLAB, ANSYS, and C++.

Basics of MATLAB and its Engineering Application:
Using MATLAB, a student can analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models and applications. MATLAB can be used for a range of applications including signal processing and communications, image and video processing, control systems, test and measurement, computational finance, and computational biology.

ANSYS simulation software for Engineers:
Students will learn a firm foundation for studying many analysis techniques in ANSYS Mechanical. The software creates simulated computer models of structures, electronics, or machine components to simulate strength, toughness, elasticity, temperature distribution, electromagnetism, fluid flow, and other attributes. Ansys is used to determine how a product will function with different specifications, without building test products or conducting crash tests.

C++ Quick Start Workshop:
The participants will learn object-oriented programming with applications to engineering, the concept of classes, inheritance, and libraries and teach issues related to good programming, reuse, and problem-solving in general.

Professor Hamid is excited to share these unique and comprehensive workshops to students that enhance their knowledge of engineering and give them a competitive advantage when applying to UC/CSU transfer-level engineering programs.
