In celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, my Asian American Literature scholars (ENGL 230) have invited San Diego poet, Claire Hsu Accomando, to read from and discuss her newest collection, Evaporation. Two Honors Scholars from ENGL 230 will be co-hosting and facilitating a Q&A with our featured poet. Therefore, this event supplements and reinforces what scholars are learning in our course curriculum while allowing to apply critical thinking, reading, and writing skills they've been honing all semester.
Inviting a local author to read and discuss their work at our campus can inspire faculty to reimagine how to integrate current texts and relevant authors into their courses. Furthermore, learning about this author during AANHPI Heritage Month is a testament to our college's commitment to diversity and equity.
