BBQ Fundraiser for Veterans Emergency Fund

The BBQ Fundraiser that will be taking place next week on Tuesday, September 17th from 11 am to 1 pm out in the Quad. Thanks to Chef Tonya, the Culinary students, and some outside support. We can dedicate all the money that is raised directly to our Veterans Emergency Fund.

For those who don’t know about this fund, the Veterans Emergency Fund was established to ensure that we could help our military-affiliated students who may have an unexpected financial situation. The main goal of this fund is to help prevent students from having to drop out of school to pursue immediate earnings to cover the financial hardship and instead be able to continue to focus on their academic journey. Back when I was a student, this fund personally helped me stay in school when I needed help the most.

Please note, that we will be approaching this event a bit differently than we did the Pancake Social in the Spring. We cannot allow plates to be ordered in advance for delivery. Instead, our advanced option is that you can purchase a plate that will then be given to one of our students for free. Don’t worry, you are more than welcome to come by the day of the BBQ and purchase your plate as well! The exact menu is still being worked on, but we will have chicken and vegetarian options available. Plates will be sold for $10 each. We’ll also be able to take Card, Venmo, or PayPal as payment on the day of the BBQ.

With the support of a generous alum, who wishes to remain anonymous, we also have up to a $250 match for any meals that get purchased for students in advance.
