Dr. Matthew Shtrahman, Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Neurosciences at the UCSD School of Medicine will discuss the work to use light and optical tools to study brain activity during learning and memory and disease states such as epilepsy as well as his work on investigating the mechanisms by which viruses cause chronic brain diseases including neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. Join Dr. Shtrahman as he shares his career path and how his laboratory was steered down these different scientific paths.
