Mesa Reads: Restorative Justice Practices

Join us as we continue our theme of Restorative Practices from Fall 2021. Implementing Restorative Justice Practices within our community is an essential element in creating an inclusive, brave, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, classified professionals, and administrators. We look forward to discussing how we can carry out RJ Practices, including addressing societal roots of harm, acknowledging responsibility, and healing wounds, to foster uplifting relationships and experiences within our school community. Here, we will maximize our efforts by inviting more understanding and empathy while minimizing judgment and blame to support each other to manifest our best selves.

The Restorative Practices Handbook, by Bob Costello, Joshua Wachtel and Ted Wachtel

"Simply put, to be 'restorative' means to believe that decisions are best made and conflicts are best resolved by those most directly involved in them. The restorative practices movement seeks to develop good relationships and restore a sense of community in an increasingly disconnected world" (p.6).
