Featured Entrepreneur - Maya's Story
Maya Madsen was raised as a foster child. She experienced a difficult childhood, but her hard work, perseverance, and natural-born competitive spirit pushed Maya to find her own way. As a black woman raising her family alongside her loving husband, she knew that a college education was non-negotiable for her three sons and she needed to find a way to contribute. Maya saw an opportunity in the market to create the perfect vegan cookie, and with the support and encouragement of friends and family, Maya's Cookies was established. Two of her sons have since graduated college, with her youngest still attending, and her middle son now serves on her Executive Team. Founded in 2015, Maya’s Cookies is America’s #1 Black-Owned Gourmet Vegan Cookie Company.
