Let’s Reflect and Connect In Restorative Practice
As we come to the end of the 20-21 Academic Year, it is time that we "Reflect and Connect" on the issues that have caused rifts in the fabric of our Academy this past year, from PCAB 9/15 to everyday misunderstandings or miscommunications within our departments or offices, from major aggressions or micro-aggressions (soi-disant) to casual slights. Let's not leave this academic year without acknowledging our human frailty, affirming our humanity and restoring our commitment to connect with and support each other as members of this wonderful campus community!
In a time of overlapping and interconnected health, wellness and social justice crises, it's increasingly important for us to create opportunities for processing a range of reactions. It's equally important for us to create space for us as colleagues, students, faculty and administrators, to dialogue and make meaningful connections with one another. This strengthens our collegiality as well as our our commitment to equality, equity and civility on our campus.
Please consider joining our "Reflect and Connect" Restorative Practice Workshop on Friday, May 21st from 12 noon until 2 pm. This virtual workshop will allow us a space to rebuild or strengthen our campus community through reflection on the past year and how to improve our connection with each other going forward. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Tanis Starck, a leader in the field of cultural competency, cultural proficiency, cultural transformation and restorative justice. You are most welcomed and encouraged to join in this effort to end our year on a positive note around what it means to be in supportive community.
