CTE, GE & You Workshop
Mesa College has embarked on a number of improvement efforts in the areas of completion, equity, basic skills, and CTE. However, when we examine key indicators of success-- including progress toward completion, mastering transfer-level math and English in the first year, closing equity gaps, and attainment of the living wage--the numbers have not changed significantly. We will investigate why these strategies have not moved the needle enough, why students need skills in both technical areas and the classic liberal arts, and why intentional student services interventions are vital to success.
Leveraging data on student progress, completion, and employment
outcomes at Mesa College, will enable us to better understand both stumbling blocks and momentum points. Faculty, staff and administrators will walk away with some concrete ideas for how to build on our current efforts to enable more students to reach their personal and professional goals.
