The Art of Inclusive Communication
This workshop is a presentation on methods for establishing effective interpersonal communications. This workshop provides effective strategies to manage difficult social situations.
The purpose of the workshop is, essentially, to provide attendees with the mental tools to better manage contentious social interactions; the clearest benefit to students, in this case via faculty, would be the creation of a safe classroom environment where they may feel comfortable expressing themselves to the instructor without fear of judgment or dismissal based on their personal views and opinions. Creating such an environment is one of the primary goals of the SDCCD, and this workshop is specifically geared towards making that a reality. It also teaches attendees about broad personality categories, and how these categories can naturally cause friction between people from different types; by understanding how we ourselves think, we can learn to appreciate that others may think differently, and to validate their feelings while also striving for a mutually beneficial solution.
