History Program

Enroll in Mesa College’s History program and see how the study of the past can lead to your future success with a Degree in History. As you cover topics ranging from early to modern societal development, you will gain a greater understanding of human behavior and its contribution to the construction and dynamics of particular societies. You will have opportunities to develop your critical intelligence and identify the ways structural inequalities rooted in race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, religious faith, and physical and mental disability are carefully maintained by the powerful and mobilize those seeking change. As you earn an associate degree and/or prepare to transfer, your completion of the History program will provide you with a platform to better understand the role you play in your community, the legacy that precedes you, and the work you can do to support an equitable existence for all. Moreover, historical study is a fundamental contribution to liberal, humanistic education, and the development of critical intelligence.
