Bio

Intera is an Environmental Science Major at Mesa College
Here is what being a STEM Community Scholar means to her:
Being a STEM Community Scholar helps me acknowledge how powerful STEM is as it is
intertwined in our daily lives. As the STEM field is continuing to be at large, putting
an emphasis of these variety of subjects in our own community, our education, and
our next generation’s future helps bring diversity, unity, and a voice for minorities.
As a Scholar I will fight for better representation within the gender gap of the STEM
workforce and continuously encourage and support students in my community to override
the stereotypes in the male-dominated field. This opportunity is important because
I can truly relate with those who have been in/going through the same situation as
me and for students that are struggling, they can see the accessible opportunities
that the STEM field can bring and I hope to continuously to be that stepping stone
for others to get a better understanding of what it truly means to be a STEM student.
