Edgard Parra

Edgard is a Petroleum Engineering major at Mesa College. 

Here is what being a STEM Community Scholar means to him: 

Being a STEM Community Scholar is more than having academic success; it is about helping our community and fostering a learning culture. We all have diverse backgrounds, face different problems, and study different STEM careers, but we all share a common goal; we want to make an impact in our community. Today we make an impact by tutoring fellow students, volunteering our spare time, and teaching in workshops. Tomorrow we will be designing technology that lessens our carbon footprint, saving lives by creating new medicines, or researching the unimaginable. Together we will make a better future. As a STEM Community Scholar, not only will I help be designing new technology, but I will help others achieve the same
