As an Army veteran and first generation college student, the transition to civilian life and the process to get into college was difficult to say the least. All the call’s to the Veterans Affairs office, still feeling in the dark about everything college has to offer me. I didn't know who to call or where to get my information from, it left me feeling lost. However, I knew that I couldn't be the only veteran facing these issues and that's when I decided to join Mesa Pathways Fellows.
Since joining Pathways, one of my main goals is to help veterans and give them the knowledge and confidence they deserve when going back to school. Most veterans face a plethora of hurdles once exiting the military, and it is an honor knowing I can do something to help. I want to make sure that veterans and students alike feel taken care of and know there is a support system with us!
Since working as a Mesa Pathways Fellow, I can honestly say I know everyday that I am making a difference at this school. Being a Fellow has taught me that there are always people at this institution that are ready and able to help. Helping students and veterans has quickly turned into a passion of mine, and I am excited and eager to make a difference whether it may be big or small.
