ATTENTION TO ALL STUDENTS: 

You can easily check your Financial aid status and see your to-do list of needed Financial Aid docuements or verification itemes by logging into your account in the Student Portal, the student registration system, the same system that you use to enroll in classes https://myportal.sdccd.edu.  Once logged in, click view financial aid.  The information listed there is applicable and up to date.  You can determine what forms or verifications are necessary to complete your file and see all emails and notifications by clicking on the notifications banner on the College Student  Dashboard.  Select "View Your Financial Aid" if your file is complete to see if you have been determined eligible for any Financial Aid awards.  Using The Portal you may never have to wait in line again!

Do Not Send Sensitive Data in Email

You need to be aware that there is a risk that someone could intercept your information. This can be particularly important if the data you are sending contains personal, sensitive or financial information.

Please follow the instructions below when emailing the Financial Aid Office:

  1. DO NOT submit via email any documents that have any Social Security Numbers (SSN) on them.
  2. DO NOT submit via email any sensitive data documents such as but NOT LIMITED to State Driver’s License or State Identification card, Passport Card, US Passport or Military Identification etc.
  3. DO NOT submit via emial picture of documents with any SSN or sensitive data.
  4. DO NOT submit via eamil any State or Federal Tax documents.

Note: If you withdraw from ALL of your classes, you will be required to repay a portion of the Financial Aid funds that you receive.

Forms Notes:

  1. Please allow 24-48 hours for any faxed document to be received and posted. If you fax on Thursday afternoon it may be up to the following Tuesday before you will see a change on The Portal. Please see office hours.
  2. Please be sure that the student name and CSID number are clearly written on each page sent.  You should also include a cover page with your Name and CSID # for each fax you send.  
  3. Please DO NOT fax, email or mail multiple copies or select more than one submission option for the same document unless instructed to do so.  
  4. Many forms and sensitive items can be submitted electronically.  First, Download, complete and sign the form you wish to submit from the links below, then navigate to Submit Form Online link.  Once you are on the submission page, Select Forms/Applications then Financial Aid Form/Verification. Fill in the submission page to identify the document that you will be submitting.  NOTE:  Make sure the form you select to submit matches the completed PDF form you are attaching.  Be sure to attach all supporting documentation as well.  
  5. Please DO NOT send emails with forms attached to any staff member in the financial aid office. The email server is not encrypted and therefore it's not safe/secure to email anything with private confidential information. Any attached documents will be deleted.  PLEASE NOTE:  Mesa College can not be held responsible for any damages you may incure as a result of sending documents via email.  
  6. Due to privacy regulations, if you wish to speak to someone in the Finacial Aid office regarding your record, you must have a password onfile.  For a Password Form click here or under General Forms below.
  7. Students who need a Social Service or Housing form completed; Please turn the form in at the Financial Aid office front counter.  The form will be completed and ready for pick-up in 48 hours.

Change Your Educational Objective form

CAMPUS OF RECORD (COR College of Record) Change Request. **** To change your COR, you must first add SD Mesa College [001275] to your current aid year FAFSA [Mesa is not already listed on your FAFSA].  You then need to submit a signed statement indicating the College [Mesa] you want to permanently change to the FA Office  or Submit PDF Form Online.  Please include in your statement your Name, CSID# and Semester you would like the change effective and when you added Mesa to your FAFSA.  NOTE:  Your COR should match the SDCCD Campus of your academic plan.  Once changed it can not be changed back for the remainder of the academic year [Fall, Spring, Summer].

  1. Once you submit your PDF COR Statement, you will be given a confirmation number begining with SRV.  You can use that confirmation number to followup with the Financial Aid Office.   You can call our office at 619-388-2817 press 9 to speak to a live person during our phone window hours. M-Thr 10am-12pm & 2pm-4pm & Fri. 10am-12pm 
  2. If your COR can be changed, you will know it's done when you see MESA COLLEGE on your student portal welcome screen.

****BE ADVISED THAT COR CHANGES ARE TIME SENSITIVE AND MAY NOT BE PERMITTED IF THE STUDENT FILE HAS ALREADY BEEN AWARDED FEDERAL/STATE AID at CITY or MIRAMAR College.

Standards of Satisfactory of Academic Progress 

Third Party Authorization-Release of Student Records. This form can only be completed by the student.  In order for the Release form to be accepted, the student must also submit the Password Request Form for Financial Aid Students with a copy of valid Photo ID.   Download, complete and sign the Password Request form then click Submit Form Online to send the completed form with a visible copy [FRONT and BACK] of your valid Government Photo ID showing your signature (excluding Military ID).    The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 USC & 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student educational records, both financial and academic. For the student’s protection, FERPA generally limits, with certain exceptions, release of student information without the student’s explicit written consent. In order to release information concerning your financial aid, your authorization and password is needed.

As of October 1, 2022, You can submit your 2023-2024 FAFSA and renewal applications using 2021 income information. Please be aware that the 2023-2024  application is applicable to the Fall 2023, Spring 2024, & Summer 2024 semesters.  You are encouraged to apply early.  If you apply early, you should expect to receive your first response from SD Mesa College Financial Aid approximately April-May 2023.  In the interim, you may receive automated notices indicating the application was submitted successfully, or that you may need to make necessary corrections before the school can download and process the FAFSA
