Study Abroad
Community Programs
General Information
Study Abroad provides a unique opportunity to explore another culture firsthand. The lifelong rewards to students include the opportunity to acquire a level of global competence that is highly valued by transfer institutions and employers.
According to research from the American Association of Colleges and Universities, employers want more college learning outcomes to highlight: global issues (67%), intercultural competence (71%), and intercultural knowledge of global issues (67%). To access this report, click here.
Members of the California Colleges for International Education (CCIE) sponsor study abroad programs through their own community colleges. For more information, or to enroll in one of these credit-bearing programs, visit www.ccieworld.org.
If you are interested in studying abroad on your own through a program not affiliated with the CCIE, please review the San Diego Community College District's "Policy for Courses Taken in a Foreign Country" and be aware that you may or may not receive credit for the classes you take abroad. Make an appointment to speak with a Mesa College counselor first before you sign up for a study abroad program outside of the CCIE consortium.
