How did you decide to become a teacher?
My father has been a teacher for over 20 years. For as long as I can remember my father used to take me to his classroom everyday. I decided to become a teacher when I started tutoring a small group of first graders from my dad’s school. These first graders were struggling to learn english as a second language, it was amazing to see them excel academically with everyone’s guidance.

Describe the process of becoming a teacher at Mesa. What have you done? What has worked well for you?
San Diego Mesa College provides you with the best guidance and instruction to become an educator. The department works closely with a counselor and an instructor to ensure that all prerequisites are completed not only to ensure your transfer to a four year institute but to prepare you beyond that.

What do you like about the DEBER program?
What I like about the DEBER program is the sense of community. I love knowing that I am not in the process alone , as well as knowing that many of my peers have the same doubts and concerns. In addition, the DEBER program guides us to success by providing us with the best resources academically, emotionally, and financially.
