San Diego Mesa College Premiers the Fall 2018 Student Art Exhibition, Featuring Window

San Diego, CA. — Members of the community are invited to attend a reception for the
Fall 2018 Student Art Exhibition Reception on Thursday, November 29, 3:00 – 7:00
pm, in the Mesa College Art Gallery, D101 and Courtyard. Light refreshments will be provided, along with entertainment
by San Diego Mesa College Music Department. The Exhibition is on view from November 29 – December 11, 2018.
“The exhibit is an exciting and masterful collection of artworks in various media
including drawing, design, digital media, printmaking, photography, painting, ceramics,
fashion and sculpture, all produced by students enrolled in Studio Art classes and
the Fashion Department,” stated Alessandra Moctezuma, Gallery Director and Professor
Fine Art at San Diego Mesa College. “The art sale portion – which is a Mesa College
tradition - includes many hand-made items such as cards, jewelry, ceramics, glass
and accessories, and is a great opportunity to purchase one of a kind gifts for the
holidays.”
Members of the community are also invited to view a new window installation of woven
and sculptural works by artist Katie Ruiz titled Mother Rose Cried Many Burdens. Katie is a painter and mixed media artist. She also curates Vivid Space gallery in Little Italy.
All aspects of the exhibition were designed and executed by the San Diego Mesa College Museum Studies class, under the direction of Professor Alessandra Moctezuma. Gallery hours are
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday: 11:00am– 4:00 pm and Thursdays from 1:00pm – 7:00
pm, or by appointment. Closed on weekends, Fridays and school holidays.
