San Diego, CA – Despite recent national trends, Mesa College enrollment is increasing this Spring, and prospective students can still enroll for open courses that Mesa College is offering – in both full semester 16 week classes as well as multiple flexible “short-term” classes which start in February, March and April. Seats are currently still available in multiple
classes in over 2 dozen programs; offered in both on-campus and online formats. Short-term
classes are 8, 10, and 12 weeks, and designed with maximum flexibility for working
students so that students can earn units more quickly.
Students are encouraged to enroll and register as soon as possible. Courses are still
available in both general education and specific degree programs, including Art, Anthropology, Computers, Culinary, English, Ethnic Studies, Exercise Science,
Fashion, Mathematics, Multimedia, and Psychology, as well as in the sciences and multiple languages. Nearly all of these courses fulfill either general or specific education requirements for students looking to
earn a degree or transfer to a CSU or UC school.
“Having access to classes is really valuable for students right now,” stated Dr. Isabel
O’Connor, Vice President of Instruction. “With the option to take classes on-campus
or online, and having courses that are transferable to the CSU or UC system, we are
making it really easy for any student to get the credits that they need to complete
their degrees for transfer or employment.”
Mesa College is recognized for having the largest number of students who earned degrees
designed to transfer to the California State University system – and has transfer
options to SDSU. This is an important consideration for many students who want to
go on to earn a higher degree once they leave Mesa College.
However, classes aren’t only for students pursuing a four-year degree. Students interested
in Career Technical Education, or who want to gain immediate in-demand job skills, can take classes such as Accounting,
Business, Child Development, Computer Science, Culinary Arts, Fashion, Fitness, Geographic
Information Systems (GIS), Health Information Technology/Management, Hospitality, Medical Assisting, Multimedia, Phlebotomy, Real Estate, Teacher Education,
and Web Development – all of which can be applied towards an Associate’s Degree in
their respective departments.
Registration is open now for all students. Classes are $46 a unit for California residents.
