Second-year student Zora Williams is using her voice to bring more mental health and nutrition programming to San Diego Mesa College. Williams was elected president of the college’s Associated Students (AS) for the 2024-2025 academic year and serves as the college’s student representative on the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees.
Sometimes, you hear a story that makes you want to know more. Kevin Gonzalez has such a story. The last time this story was updated, San Diego Mesa College student Kevin Gonzalez was a 15 year-old heading off to Massachusetts to complete his high school education. In the ensuing years, he has travelled to the other side of the world, built houses, but remained in close contact with his Mesa College professors and connections he made while on campus.
The San Diego Community College District has appointed four new student trustees for the upcoming academic year. Dalia Ramirez (San Diego City College), Zora Williams (San Diego Mesa College), Hailey Hua (San Diego Miramar College), and Haydee Zuniga (San Diego College of Continuing Education), will be sworn in during the June 20 SDCCD Board of Trustees meeting.

San Diego, CA. — Tomorrow, on Wednesday, October 18 at 12:00 p.m., Mesa College will be hosting their Spirit Week Pep Rally on campus to celebrate the success of the Athletics program with the 4th win of the Devore Trophy, and upcoming contests, culminating in the 2023 Homecoming Football Game on Saturday, Oct 21.
The DeVore Award is presented each year to a Pacific Coast Athletics Conference (PCAC) member college with the most successful men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic program for the academic year. Mesa College has won this award four times; in 2011-12, 2018-2019, 2021-22 and now for 2022-23. Mesa College has won this trophy more than any other college in the PCAC.
The Pep Rally is hosted by the Associated Students in celebration of Spirit Week festivities. 2023 Spirit Week will feature multiple athletics contests – including both men’s and women’s soccer along with women’s volley ball – and will culminate when the Olympians head into their Homecoming Football Game on Saturday, October 21, against Mt San Jacinto College.

On Wednesday, September 25, San Diego Mesa College Athletics has been awarded the DeVore Trophy for the 2018-19 calendar year. The DeVore Award is presented each year to a Pacific Coast Athletics Conference (PCAC) member college with the most successful men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic program for the academic year. Mesa College finished 2018-19 with a total of 217 total points overall. The last time Mesa won the DeVore Trophy was in 2011-12.
Congratulations to Mesa College Women’s Soccer team for making it to the Southern California Regional Playoffs. They will compete tonight, November 15 at 7pm at the Merrill Douglas Stadium. The Mesa community is invited to come out and show support for the Women’s Soccer team tonight on the home field.
