Mesa College to Host the 42nd Annual Golden Scissors Fashion Show on Campus in the
new Quad
“Designed to Last” will Showcase Sustainable Fashion

San Diego, CA – On Friday, May 12, the San Diego Mesa College Fashion Program will
host the 42nd Annual Golden Scissors Fashion Show from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the beautiful new on-campus
Quad. The event will feature a live in-person runway show, a design showcase, awards and
a VIP reception including music performed by students from the music department.
The show aims to expand the knowledge of sustainability in fashion. Through this event,
the Fashion Program aims to foster sustainability, designing pieces that last. The
fashion student designers will introduce their work and discuss different innovative
ways they each found to create impactful sustainable pieces. This sunset evening
event will feature some of Mesa College’s top fashion student designers, including
Nermin Arslan, Leo Cotton, Kiara Jones, Victoria Krenz, Robbie Matawaran, Ki'Vonne
Nash, Lydia Nash, Grace Rosburg, and Eddie Villarreal.
All those interested in the fashion industry of the San Diego community are encouraged
to join in this exciting event and show support for local-fashion student designers
while promoting sustainability in fashion. This ticketed event is open to the public.

Learn More about San Diego Mesa College Fashion Program
As part of San Diego Mesa College's Fashion program, students can create inventive
designs and projects while informing our culture. Students will learn how to capture
their artistic vision efficiently by using digital technology and apply knowledge
from courses in sketching, sewing, pattern making, and draping to physically bring
designs to life. Students will learn styling, how to interpret trends, and execute
stunning visual displays. In addition, students will be using the latest technologies
to track sales, interpret analytics, and create tech packs and marketing materials.
Mesa students immerse themselves in the local fashion community with opportunities
to participate in field excursions and study abroad, hold internship positions, and
learn from our expert faculty and knowledgeable guest speakers. Mesa’s curriculum
is curated by faculty who possess extensive industry experience with insights from
an advisory committee of fashion professionals. Students will find support on and
off campus to achieve their goals to enter a fashion profession or pursue further
education at another institution. Our alumni have competed on Project Runway and found
