San Diego Mesa College Named NKBA College of the Year for 2015
By Office of Communications
San Diego Mesa College was named National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) College
of the Year for 2015 for its Interior Design Program.
The award is based on juried student work from all accredited programs in the U.S.
and Canada. Mesa College was the program with the highest combined average score of
97.00 out of 100. Mesa College will receive an engraved crystal trophy and a Certificate
of Achievement for NKBA College of the Year – 2015 to display prominently on campus.
For the ninth consecutive year, the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) recognized
NKBA accredited programs with its 2015 Excellence in Education Award. The Academic
Programs department announced these prestigious accomplishments during its Fall Webinar
for Educators held Sept. 23, 2016.
Each NKBA program must submit two student design projects, which are then scored using
the NKBA Kitchen & Bathroom Planning Guidelines and NKBA Graphics and Presentation
Standards. The award winning schools met the NKBA’s challenging goal of earning an
average combined score of 90 or above on their submitted student designs. Each of
these programs receives an Excellence in Education certificate to display as well
as the use of the NKBA 2015 Excellence in Education on their school websites and marketing
materials.
Mesa College holds the distinction of being the only two or four-year design program
in the region to have gained the prestigious National Kitchen and Bath Association
(NKBA) accreditation. Program coordinator is Holly Hodnick. For more on the program,
