Ms. Jansen earned a B.S. degree in Communication Disorders from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and an M.A. in Education from United States International University in San Diego. She has taken.extensive additional graduate coursework in counseling, human communication disorders, and learning disabilities at both San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego.
In addition to her excellent academic credentials, Ms. Jansen brings to Mesa College years of experience in her field. Since 1992, she has served Cuyamaca College as a counselor in the DSPS program. Her duties have included development of student educational plans, tutoring, and providing individual counseling for students with disabilities. She has also worked with all types of disability assessment and student support programs, as well as curriculum modification and development. For the past seven years, Ms. Jansen has also been a full-time Special Educator and Speech Pathologist at the Grossmont Union High School District, where she has performed similar duties.
Ms. Jansen has been a consultant, coordinator, and liaison for many community outreach programs at federal, state and local levels. She has had a wide range of experience working with ethnically diverse student populations of all ages and has been involved in bilingual/bicultural programs. Additionally, she is the co-author of a book for high school students attending community colleges.
