The Audiovisual Services Department provides equipment, materials, and services to students, faculty, and staff at Mesa College.
Different services are available to faculty/staff and students, so be sure to check the appropriate menu on the AV homepage.
The department is located on the fourth floor of the Learning Resources Center. The telephone number is (619) 388-2690, and it is open the same hours as the library.
A broad range of equipment is provided for the campus community. There are five (5) booths with video playback equipment, audiocassette players and other equipment. LCD projectors, computers, and DVD/VCR players are available for classroom use.
Graphics and video production services are available to faculty and staff. Video services include downloads for teleconferencing.
A large collection of videocassettes and DVDs are located here. Access to the Community College Consortium video collection is coordinated through this department as well.
All work done by the department must be for school related projects, and must be copyright compliant.
Mesa College has a collection of videos and compact discs that is located in the Audiovisual (AV) Department of the LRC. It has over 1100 VHS tapes, 600 DVD's and 500 compact discs.
To search for a VHS videotape, DVD or CD, go to the AV Search page of the online library catalog. There you can search by keyword in the search box or browse the two categorized lists of videos (both VHS and DVD).
Faculty and staff may check out AV materials for classroom use. Faculty members may check out a maximum of five items which are due back not later than seven days after checkout. If an item needs to be reserved for a specific date, please arrange with an AV staff member. Students may view videos or listen to CDs in AV booths only; they cannot be taken out of the building (Students can checkout CD's for two weeks).
AV Services now offers access to thousands of videos through the Films on Demand streaming database. Searchable by key word or broad discipline, videos include accompanying text which meets ADA requirements and copyright compliance. Clips of videos can be embedded into Blackboard.
Mesa College is a member of the Consortium Video Library. As a Mesa faculty member, you may borrow videos from this library for free.
You will need a client code to reserve videos through this service. Simply call the San Diego County Office of Education at 619-718-4983 (8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday) or send an email to email@example.com and request a client code. Once you have your individual client code, your password is Mesa.
Once you have this, you are ready to search the consortium catalog (L4U) and make your reservations. For detailed infomation of how to do this, go to the searching and booking instructions and print out the two-page document.
A requested video will be sent to Mesa's AV Department, located on the fourth floor of the LRC, where you can pick it up. When done with the video simply return it to AV. Deliveries are made on Monday morning and Thursday morning of each week.
Replacement costs are the responsibility of the borrower.
The AV Department has access to many catalogs and online databases that are useful in finding videos that meet your curricular needs.

The department has a full time staff that is available to assist you with your AV needs.
A current Mesa ID card is required in order to use our media or equipment.
Playback and Recording Equipment is available for faculty, staff, and student use in the department's AV booths. Faculty and staff may also check out equipment such as video and digital video cameras, and digital still cameras for classroom/college-related business.

Based on availablity, equipment may be checked out overnight or for the weekend for classroom/college-related business with the approval of the AV Supervisor, AV Librarian or LRC Dean.
Classroom Presentation Equipment is available for faculty and staff use. Call (619) 388-2690 to reserve equipment. The equipment can be picked up prior to class and must be returned immediately after class. If this is your first time borrowing, you are encouraged to come by ahead of time and ensure that your presentation runs on our equipment. The equipment is located on carts for easy transfer.

Faculty need to come to the AV counter to complete the paperwork authorizing the student to check out equipment. The student needs to come to the AV Counter with the instructor when the reservation is made. The student picking up the equipment will need a current Mesa ID card and the signed permission form. Please note students cannot check out laptops under any circumstances; faculty must personally pick them up and return them.
Smart Classroom Equipment is located in all of the classrooms and lecture halls. The equipment is kept locked when not in use. For a key and training on use of the equipment, contact the AV Instructional Lab Technician at 388-2656.

Provide professional video postproduction services using Final Cut Pro and AVID non-linear editing system.
Digitization and editing of video footage into a product that can be used in a variety of formats.
Transfer video programs into a variety of formats, including international formats.
Transfer and editing of audio programs from various formats (cassette, CD).
Off-air recording for classroom use.
Digitization of slides for use in video productions, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
